W8 Loss Wednesday #7 - The Goofus and Gallant Edition

Sometimes it's more effective to show you how NOT to do something. At least that's what I tell myself when I fall off the wagon. But cut me some slack. I was at a conference all last week, and it was Memorial Day Weekend too.

But I've got a good one for you this week. There's a personal thank you to one genuinely awesome friend, blogger and radio host extraordinaire, Soapbox Mom from Fury, and I also have a special guest joining me on location at Dave and Buster's: the lovely and talented Miss, author of one of my favorite reads, Rura and Miss.

I know, I know, I misspelled Gallant in the movie title on the video and forgot to credit Billy Joel for this week's musical selection. Not worth the re-do. And it's Thursday.

Don't forget to check out my W8 Loss Wednesday buddies:

OK, I'm so incredibly jealous that you actually hang with other bloggers. So cool.
-----
[BusyDad] It is ultra cool and a little surreal. Like they really exist. In like real life. Blows your mind, actually. I get out to your neck of the woods often, you'll see!

May 29, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterMommyCosm

You got to hang with Miss?! *is jealous*

I was also LMAO at the captions over the waitresses!
-----
[BusyDad] Yuup! Should have done this ages ago, as she lives in the town right next to mine. And I didn't even notice those waitresses until I was editing, so it cracked me the hell up last night!

May 29, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterHoneybell

Hey, being gone AND it being a three day weekend is excuse enough.
-----
[BusyDad] Can you be my lifecoach?

May 29, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterKori

What? No scale? lol I'm a little disappointed to see you not blowing bubbles in your NewCastle. I'm feeling a bit let down. ;)
-----
[BusyDad] Believe me, if I wasn't so intent on drinking it, I totally would have done it. It would have been classic. damn!

May 29, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterAshley

My husband the dentist, gets a new Highlights magazine each season.

I think I want a turkey sandwich with roasted red peppers for lunch. Sound amazing!

And Fury? Too cute for words. ;)
-----
[BusyDad] Oh you gotta hook me up! I'm sick of having to get my teeth cleaned just so I can catch up with Goofus' latest rebellious antics!

May 29, 2008 | Unregistered Commenterohmommy

Damn you are one cool dad. Who needs "buff" when you've got video editing skillz AND the ability to laugh at milkshake bubbles all over the table? Srsly.
-----
[BusyDad] :) I think any dad has the ability to laugh at that. I, on the other hand, have a LICENSE to laugh. Telling yourself "only because I need to blog this" is a great way to get away with anything!

May 29, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterMommyTime

I want to leave work just so I can see this video. Damn Websense blocks ALL the good stuff.

Will comment again. (But I did just laugh at the milk bubble comment.)
-----
[BusyDad] Aw maaaaaan!

May 29, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterMiss

I want to meet you too. You neeeeedddd to find your way down to San Francisco in July. Even if it's just to take a lame tourist picture with me @ the Golden Gate Bridge. I demand it. I'm giving you 49 days advance notice.
-----
[BusyDad] I would love nothing more than to gather a bunch of fellow dad groupies bloggers and crash the blogher conference. And take touristy pictures.

May 29, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterMaria

Good edition, Jim!
-----
[BusyDad] Thanks Jen! :)

That was awesome. Also, Miss is totally hot.
-----
[BusyDad] Hey, we can't let our friends up north have all envy-inducing get togethers!

May 29, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterMr Lady

Great post. Now I understand why my wife always makes my son and I BOTH get lids on our milkshakes. Always wondered about that. ;-)
-----
[BusyDad] Thanks! Now that the secret's out, I feel bad for your wife the next time you all are out.

May 29, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterKrellpw

You're posts are very inspiring. I'm think'n I need to start video taping my weight weekly to keep me accountable. And I need to find a container store to get me some of those goods. Love it!
-----
[BusyDad] Thanks :) That's precisely what got me to start doing this. I can be real easy on myself when no one's scrutinizing me. And when I'm at Dave and Buster's apparently.

May 29, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterTammy

Goofus rocks but I could do without that Gallant.
-----
[BusyDad] Ying and yang, my friend. Going Goofus ain't half as much fun if you don't go Gallant first. Goofus and Meh wouldn't really fly.

May 29, 2008 | Unregistered Commentersoge shirts

Eating every 3 hours? That's MY kind of diet... as long as it was buffalo wings and milkshakes.

I want some cool lunch toys! I must to go to the Container Store.

p.s. I could feel that waitress' eyes burn through your table!
-----
[BusyDad] haha. We're horrible. Just horrible.

May 29, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterSandy (Momisodes)

Ya Know- That Goofus and Gallant - Gallant got the good grades and Goofus got all the chicks.Goofus rocks!
-----
[BusyDad] Yup, he just goes direct route. No messin round.

May 29, 2008 | Unregistered Commenterrobj98168

Ok last week (?) I was L.M.A.O. with Fury eating his boogers (yah I'm real mature I know). This week had me going with him licking the table!!! Oh and good job with the weight loss. I've been working on that too. Down 10lbs. Woo hoo!
----
[BusyDad] Yup, that's me. Always going for the lowest common denominator! haha

May 29, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterMrs. Kitty

Loved this, and great vid of your blogger get-together... Fury is so cute, licking the table and all. What a riot!
-----
[BusyDad] Glad you enjoyed it KMeg! Fury has been into licking stuff lately. It scares me a little, and I'm not at all a germaphobe.

May 29, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterKaren MEG (Pomtini)

I'm so glad Fury's enjoying the Bionicles (and making them by himself!!). He's such a great lil' guy - wanting to express gratitude via video! Very clever kid there! And I love his laugh/giggle! Pure joy.

Looks like you guys had a ton of fun at Dave & Buster's!
-----
[BusyDad] And the best part? He ended up making ALL of them by himself. Not just the two he pointed out. It makes me happy, but a little sad too... thanks again for all the good stuff!

May 29, 2008 | Unregistered Commentersoapbox mom

Hahaha you got the table licking!! That is so funny. Didn't notice the waitresses either. You should have seen the look on the face of the waitress that had to bring the napkins to clean that mess. Oh wait, all you guys were in the bathroom! Sneaky BD. Sneaky. Wasnt that a miracle when you came back and the table was clean?! ;-) So much fun. We HAVE to do it again.

And? Thanks for making my lifelong dream of getting name dropped (and seen!!!) in the video come true. You rock!

PS - Thanks for making me look skinny. Your editing skills are da bomb yo!!
-----
[BusyDad] ooops!! Sorry bout the milk haha. Well if you look at my comments, it looks like you were the main draw on this video. Fury has some competition now.

May 29, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterMiss

BEST ONE EVER! Nice work!! You have got the editing down pretty damn good my man!!
-----
[BusyDad] WOW, thank you! Props from the man himself.

[BusyDad] NICE!! Thank you.

May 29, 2008 | Unregistered Commenterschmutzie

Fury also likes to like his sweat and tears. I guess he likes salty things....
-----
[d Hubby] and don't forget - boogers!

May 30, 2008 | Unregistered Commenterd Wife

Oops, typo - Sorry - I meant he likes to LICK....

May 30, 2008 | Unregistered Commenterd Wife

Light-hearted, easy-going, alot of fun, not taking yourself too seriously, being able to laugh at yourself...that's what w8losswednesdays are all about. You've caught the spirit.Youknow, when you have goals and dreams, you've made it very clear it's good to have fun along the way. Your editinng skills just keep getting better and better. I may have asked you this before but what editing software do you use? I hope other Cre8Buzzers see these videos and get inspired to throw some stuff up and see how easy it really is. Fury...you rock!!
-----
[BusyDad] Thank you Scott! And great points. If you don't have fun, why bother? Windows Movie Maker. That's all I use for most of the videos.
