The noble-intentioned boob post

For once, I can say I'm working out just for boobs and not get dirty looks.

Hey, I saw that!

Fine, let me explain. You know October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month right? You also might be aware that I kick my own ass 3 times a week at 6 in the morning (which is nuts in its own right) doing Crossfit (yup, that is my Crossfit gym - and I'm divulging personal info, but then again, who would be crazy enough to stalk me at 6 in the friggin morning?). What I love about Crossfit, besides enabling me to purge the contents of my stomach on their driveway every once in a while, is the fact that Crossfitters are always looking to tie workouts to fundraisers. Puking for Philanthropy, in other words (not trademarked - that's my term).

This month, we're helping out Barbells for Boobs, an organization founded by a fellow Crossfitter that funds mammograms for those who can't afford it. The event is called Amazing Grace. Crossfitters across the nation will pay money, collect donations, and then participate in the workout we call "Grace" (all of the standard Crossfit workouts are given female names, because like a hurricane, or a female I guess, they will wreck you).

If you haven't already given to another worthy Breast Cancer cause, and you plan to, I'm asking you to donate to Amazing Grace 2010. Just go here and donate via the sidebar. If you do, please select Crossfit Monrovia in the dropdown menu for Crossfit Affiliate.

This will pretty much kill me. But I've done worse things for boobs.

You do have nice ones.

I can't believe you would go through all this just to be able to write "boobs" four times in one post. :0

Seriously, what an awesome endeavor from Crossfit. My boss and his wife are Crossfit fanatics as well (their gym is RIGHT BELOW our office) and they are the scariest, most well-physiqued looking pair you will ever encounter.

I'll be sure to spread the word about Barbells for Boobs. (Hey, I got to say "boobs," too!

"worse things for boobs" Really? Is it that awful? :p My very best friend found out a few weeks ago that she's Stage 2, she's having a double mastectomy on the 21st - I'm giving for my girl. At many places. If I have more to give, It'll be for this site. How fun. Don't puke!

You are AWESOME, dude. Save the boobies!

I love all the clever names people come up with for the breast cancer awareness events. I think you should do the 3 Day with me next year. We need more guys on the walk. :D

Awesome Jim! Thank you for doing this. I was diagnosed with breast cancer 5 years ago at 45 years old, through a routine mammogram. The tumor was malignant, but SO tiny that I only had to have surgery to remove it, and then some minimal radiation (6 days!) and no drugs afterward. It's such a cliche, but it's true - early detection is the key to saving lives. Makes me sooooooo angry when I read in the news that they're not recommending mammograms for women under 50. BULLSHIT!!! Get them, Ladies!! Puh-leeze!!

So, thanks for puking on my behalf, Jim.

This is awesome. Saving boobs is just as cool as staring at them! I lost one aint to breast cancer and te other to sarcoma 2 weeks ago so anything to help afford early diagnosis is awesome!

Great post. Thanks for doing what you're doing.

Here's my Pinktober Tribute last year.

Fury would be proud you posted this. As we all know, he's a boob man and has no problem announcing it in public! LOL #firsttriptosciencemuseum

So, you make me want to donate money AND work out...all in one post? You're good, BD. Really good.

I too am working out just for boobs - my man boobs that is. Wife doesn't think they're cute and my infant tried to nurse on me multiple times.

Crossfit in and of itself is tough enough - at 6am, possibly hungover? The things we'll do for boobs. And nice overhead press!

You are awesome for participating in this. Even if one ulterior motive is that you get to say "boobs" a lot.
