Leap of Faith #5: Let's Get Comical

I hope you’ve enjoyed this month’s Leap of Faith Friday posts. I have enjoyed this endeavor immensely and I’m kinda sad that this is the last one. Ever wonder what my life would be like as a cartoon? Oh… oh well. But I have. And now I know. As my last ever Leap of Faith (unless this blog survives another 4 years), I’d like to introduce you to my newest project: my life in a comic strip.

Fun With Speling Tessts

His “never tap out” attitude may benefit him more in the long run than spelling “Address” anyway...

In some states, the judges would probably just give him this one...

Leap of Faith #4: BusyDad Sings the Hits

And now for talent portion of our competition (you’re lucky you missed the swimsuit round – it ain’t a pretty sight these days). Ok, my biggest leap ever coming up. I’m putting it all out on the line. Why is it that of all things that make us self-conscious, singing is always at the top of the list? Well, at least now there’s nothing left on the internet that I’m trying to hide from you. Here goes nothing...

Old School Toy-nado and a Rehash Meme

These two things have nothing to do with each other. I’m just in a “read-one-get-one-free” kind of mood tonight.

The Original Toy-nado
After reading my last post, my mom sent me this. Evidence of a prior history of toy-nados in our family. I believe this one hit sometime in the summer of ’78. We were finding Raggedy-Ann yarn hairs in the potted ferns for weeks.

Favorite Posts Meme
Mindi Cherry @ The Queen Mum thinks I’m one of the “cool” bloggers out here on this internet thing. Well hot damn -- someone needs get Maury Povich on the phone so he can round up my 5th grade bully tormenters for a “How You Like Me Now” episode. I’ll be stealing Chris G, Michael M and Mike C’s wives out from under their noses with my lighthearted word-crafting and slightly sarcastic, self-depreciating comments.

Ok, let’s play. Time to rehash some posts!

Rules: Go back through your archives and post the links to your five favorite blog posts that you’ve written.

  1. Link one must be about family
  2. Link two must be about friends
  3. Link three must be about yourself
  4. Link four must be about something you love
  5. Link five can be about anything you choose

Post your five links and then tag five other people. At least two of the people you tag must be newer acquaintances so that you get to know each other better.

  1. Well, this whole blog is about my family, so here’s one about essential Dad Survival Items. It got ZERO comments. How sad...
  2. Hmm... it seems that every confession in this post is within the context of my buddies. My friends so rule!
  3. Here’s an early meme revealing my aristocratic roots and prowess as John Cusack’s punching bag.
  4. I love being a dad. These were the signs that told me I had fully embraced my role.
  5. This is an early one. I’ve learned a lot from my son. Here are some lessons my son has taught me. I remember getting so excited over the 1 comment I got from this. Thanks Xbox!

Now it's time to tag a few folks. How about just 3. Because cool folks like me can bend the rules.

  1. Melissa @ Melissa's Corner. Melissa was the first person who (to my knowledge) blind blogrolled me. I was checking my stats one day and found this blog linking to mine. For a new blogger, that is one of the most flattering things ever!
  2. Karen MEG @ A Day in the Life. One of my new blog hopping pals!
  3. Madame Meow @ A Glance into a Mom's World. A very cool chick whose life this year has been an adventure to say the least.

 Maury's calling. Gotta run!

Leap of Faith #3: 4 Days, 4 Theme Parks, 3 Kids… Buckle Up.

Ok, so this isn’t really a leap of faith per se. I’ve been wracking my brain to find a leap for this week and I just couldn’t come up with one (I have good ones lined up for the next two weeks though). Taking 3 kids under the age of 6 to 4 theme parks in 4 days is more like a suicidal leap off a cliff. Close enough, right? An easy read for a Friday night, as this is mostly pictures.

At Least it Wasn’t a Breast Pump...

I’m big time, suckas… I finally got pitched by a real PR person. In honor of my former profession, I am making good on my promise to do a feature for the first PR person brave enough to trust me to write about their client. This is NOT a pay per post. I do not get a kick back for any sales. This is pure unadulterated editorial. Plus I got y’all a discount. I should have asked for a case of Newcastle at least. Damn… rookie mistake.

Leap of Faith #2: Knocking Out My Demons

The following post is installment #2 of the 5-part Leap of Faith Fridays series cooked up by my good friend Christine at Chicken Fried Therapy. This week's post is a rare video treat: me getting pummeled. And for once, by someone other than my kid.

Let's Get Cultural!

"Hey Dad, wanna see me turn this Lego dude into a Chinese guy?"

"A Chinese guy? How are you gonna do that??"

  ChineseLego.jpg

Ok, the hat I get. But what’s up with the chicken leg??

HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR!

(It is the Year of the Rat. That is my Zodiac sign. According to ancient Chinese tradition, blog readers are supposed to give you special gifts when your animal year comes around.)

Return on Investment

Superbowl Sunday.

Eating buffalo wings. Hands and mouth covered in hot sauce and bleu cheese. Thirsty.

"Son, can you go in the fridge and get me a beer?"

Fury walks to fridge. Finds Newcastle. Finds bottle opener. Opens bottle.

Cold bottle of beer. Ready-to-drink.

Parenting. Finally paying off.

Good Lookin' Out, Son

Marcus' Kindergarten teacher is explaining the rules to the class' upcoming Valentine's Day card exchange.

Marcus raises his hand.

"I don't think my mom and dad can afford 32 Valentine's cards."

Ok, it's time to stop griping about financials in front of the kid.

Saturday Night Absentee Meme

My wicked pissa blog friend Madame Meow of A Glance into a Mom's World wanted to know the Top 10 Celebrities whom I would like to know in a "Biblical Fashion." Since weekends were made for blog hopping under the influence, I thought this was a good a time as any for this kind of thing (I mean, alcohol makes us all a little biblical, doesn't it?). Unfortunately, I have a real-world commitment tonight. SO... I am turning off the comment moderation button so you all can drop comments freely while I am out getting sloshed in the real world. So be nice! Wait... what am I saying? That would go against all the principles of Weekend Blog Hopping. Say what you want. Surprise me, because I will be reading this upon my return.

Leap of Faith Friday: Homies on a Train

One of my best blogging pals, Christine at Chicken Fried Therapy came up with a killer idea: Leap of Faith Fridays. Since this February is a leap year, she and a few brave souls are going to bare it all this month. Leap of Faith Fridays are all about removing yourself from your comfort zone and taking that flying leap. Into what, we don’t know. That’s the point. It could be an embarrassing video you’ve kept hidden under your bed, it could be starting a project you never thought possible, or it could be as simple as telling a tale of a time you had to cross your fingers and hope that you wouldn’t get robbed by a roving band of ex-cons. What? How convenient! I’ve got one of those. Well, this first post is going to be easy. But stay tuned. We have potential blackmail material all month long. Every Friday this month. That’s five for those of you playing at home.
